State –California
Location – about 3 miles off I-5 and very close to the town, right by the Sacramento River.
Spacing – Spacing for the most part is pretty good. Most of the sites are pull-throughs, but there were a few spacious back-in spots as well.
Spot we stayed in – 15
Level – the site we stayed in wasn’t super level, but other sites seemed to fare better.
Type of Camping— Full Hook-us State Park
Price – $25 a night, plus an $8 reservation fee.
Trails & Entertainment – A lot of great, very easy walking trails were right off the park.
Reservations, Walk Up, Boondocking – We reserved. They “require” reservations but the camp host met up with us right away and let us know if we didn’t have a reservation we could schedule it with him. (We did, so it was dandy.) In the future, I wouldn’t reserved but instead would drive through to figure out which spot I liked before requesting it from the camp host.
Would we stay here again? Yes. It’s really beautiful. I wish we had stayed another day or two to just relax.
Tips: Watch the sunsets here – so gorgeous.
